ah college, how nice it is. I have school until 11 then i go home and relax, get something to eat, and maybe take a nap, then at 3 i go back to class for 2 hours... miss lunch time though (defiantly my best subject) i am trying to take advantage of the opportunities that surround me. For example, tonight i am going to see a new release movie called THE RECKONING for free on campus. It's a focus film, so it is not so well known, but it looks very good! and ITS FREE. i was going to see it anyway, but now i don't have to pay the $8.50 to get in... though there is no food or drink allowed in this theater and i do like my popcorn.

I am really enjoying my theater classes, though my movement class has started making my back hurt. And I love my volleyball class. Tuesdays and Thursdays i spend an hour playing volleyball, we spend 10 minutes on skills and then we play a game! also i have astronomy just before it... well it ends 45 minutes before it, so i head strait over to the gym after that class and play volleyball with my two friends who show up there early two. We set up the nets, I bring the volleyball and then we play, me vs. them.... on 1(I usually win unless they spike it, I am too short to spike well, and i can't block) so... actually i play for one hour and forty five minutes every tuesday and Thursday... yeah... i am enjoying it a lot.

Yesterday was Mardi Gras, oh how I miss it. Some of my favorite memories are watching floats pass by as I scramble for beads and step on a few fingers in the process (accidentally of course) going into the local houses having parties to grab a beer or two and handed them to the masked people on the floats in exchange for the best beads.
And the Flambeaus! Now there is a great job. They walk in the parades carrying these huge metal torches with four jets in them and tanks of kerosene. They must weigh a ton, but they walk the several miles of the parade rout with these heavy burdens and dance with them, spin them around, and collect the quarters and nickels and dimes people trough out to them. How they bend down to reach them I will never know. Originally the Flambeau carriers were there to light the way for the floats before there was electricity and the coins were thrown to thank them for lighting the way, now it just for traditions sake (and because it looks cool)
And king cake! a wonderful cinnamon pastry covered in green, purple, and yellow sugar or frosting. And sometimes if you are very luck you find a plastic baby inside your slice and nearly break a tooth on it but you are excited none the less because YOU get to hold they next Mardi Gras party YEAH!
Oh it is a lot of fun. You go to parades for at least a month before Mardi Gras day (the best are on the Saturday and Sunday before) and you go to parties, usually held on the parade rout, and you dance and sing and go crazy for beads. The French created Mardi Gras to have a day of feasting before lent, but New Orleans has made it into a whole month of celebration! And I miss it.

Well it has been almost a week since I was on Princess Diaries II, since them I have come to two conclusions: 1) I do not want to be an actress in movies 2) I have no idea what I want to do.
When I was on the set I got a good look at what these people do all day. They spent 13 hours doing two scenes, and the actors had not learned their lines, they just bumbled through them a few times until they got something close to correct. I love movies, but I don't want to do THAT every day of my life, I would go crazy! So, it is not for me.
So now what? I have no idea. I am back to square one. I could do anything, well almost anything. There are far to many choices. But I think I will continue with theatre, at least as a minor. I love theatre, but I can't support myself that way. Law, Education, Psychology, Journalism, etc. etc. How do you chose one when you can do almost anything.

Mom, Will, and James drove down today to see me, and we all went out to dinner with Beth. it was nice. We went to the City Walk and it was so crouded (becasue it is valentines day) and so dinner didn't realy work there. We ended up at a little chinese restaurant around the corner from my house.

Then I headed over to Beths place where she and a few friends of her had a lot of fun burning spices in a ceramic bowl untill the fire alarm went off and we all sprang up in a frenzie trying to extinguish the small bondfire in the middle of the floor and opening all the windows to get rid of the smoke that we soon realized was all over the dorm room. (towels do not work well for fanning smoke out of the room)

So that is how i spent my valentines day (oh yeah and i watched feel good love stories all morning becasue that is what you have to do on Valentines day when you are at home alone.....Ever After, Sense and Sensability, etc.) with my family and with Beth. Valentines Day is over rated anyway, it is just a Hallmark holliday...Well, really it was a Roman holliday and all of the girls would put there name into a box and the men would draw a name and the orgy would begin. When the Rome became Cathlic however, this was no longer acceptable so they found a saint that stood for something sweet (Valentine.) Sweet story isn't it? So yes, Valentines day is over rated. I have seen too many people this past week get depressed becasue hey do not have someone, or upset because they don't know what to do for someone, and that is rediculous! Love is a wonderfull thing, but forced love will make noone happy. on valentines day you should just be happy for what you have, friends, family, and maby a significant other, but there is no reason to feel bad because you are "alone," becasue you never are.

Happy Valentines Day

I went to see Stand Up comedy With Beth and Danielle (Beth's friend was doing stand up, and she was great! The best one there in my opinion) There was no-one in the audience, it was a small place and it was maybe 1/5th filled. Some of the comedians were FUNNY, but some were just terrible! And it is awful because you feel sorry for them and you try to laugh but you end up giving that half hearted/joke laugh? and thats worse.
I wanna try stand up. I want to go to ammeter night somewhere and stand up and do a 2 minute bit. I Think it would be a lot of fun, well until i get booed off the stage. No-one i know should come though. Not because I would get nervous but because ya'll would be bored because i would be saying the same things i have told ya'll over and over, you know i always tell the same stories. I think they are hilarious, they probably aren't, and I forget if i told you so I juts think "hey i'll tell 'em, and if they heard it I can say it again." I like telling stories. One say I will do stand up, if only for the experience, and if i am lucky I will get an applause.

Ah school, how I enjoy it.
I am really enjoying my classes. Yesterday we had our first volleyball class (well our first REAL volleyball class, every class before that was signing a waver saying we won't sue unless the coach is negligent etc.) I only took the class because I had filled 3 of the 4 units I needed for my E section of the General Eds (sounds complicated doesn’t it) when I took my women’s health class last semester (that was a fun class) and all I needed was one more unit...so...VOLLEYBALL CLASS. And it is so fun! It’s just playing volleyball for 50 minutes and I get to do it twice a week!
Then I have three theatre classes. Well, I love theatre (of course) so they are great. Though I must admit the voice and movement class is a little odd...we spend a lot of time breathing, and sighing...it's a little out there. I enjoy my acting class. It’s...a bit intense, but I like that. (There is no messing around in this theatre class let me tell you! no chit chat no nothing! you pay attention or you are out!)

Yesterday I cut mattts hair. He could have gone to a barber, but because I usually cut my own hair he asked me to cut his. So I did. Now it is much shorter now, and I personally do not think it looks half bad. It's not movie star hair, but.... it could be worse. It took me longer than I thought though, and there was a WHOLE lot of hair on the bathroom floor after I was finished.

Today:
I dropped matt off at the airport. (Now he is in Sacramento for Youth and Government) When we went to he airport there was no room in the short-term parking lot so we had to park in the VALLET lot. I have never parked in the valet lot before, and why would I? I am...Frugal, and I do not want to spend and extra 3 dollars to have someone else park my car, and then tip, when I can do it myself. I understand if other people want to, but...me, I could buy a nice shirt or scarf at Thrift Town with those three dollars! (I don't really care that much, I just don't see the point)
So I saw Mattt off (tear) with a box of Valentines Day cookies for Valentines Day. I spent a lot of time on those cookies too. Sugar cookies with pink frosting. Here is the good part though, I cut out a heart from a piece of paper and put the paper over the cookies, then sprinkled powdered sugar over it, so the end result was a little white powdered sugar heart on the pink frosting (although I am sure it wore off by the time they got to Sacramento.) yeah, I am proud of those cookies.

Also today I got a call from central casting asking if could be in Princess Diaries 2. That makes it twice in one week! And both times really wanted to say yes, but I couldn't, because I can't miss school for it. (Tear)

The last few days have been so busy! …. Well, full anyways.

Friday, January 6th:
I went to see the Troll, woops I mean landlady, because I lost my mail key (I waited for two weeks hopping I would be able to find it but I never did) she was surprisingly nice (she must have eaten a whole cart load of children) she is normally a real witch, but she actually called me sweetly when I called her…. it was shocking.
I made a copy of her key and returned it, only to find the lost mail key in the back seat of my car not more that 7 hours later. I must have checked my car 10 times in the two weeks I was missing that key, and not once did I find it, but the day I go to the landlady there it is in the middle of the back seat. Now that’s frustrating.
I hung out with matt in the afternoon, and we went to this park in the city and hung out for a few hours. And then, I went to see Moulin Rouge at 12 in Santa Monica (Rocky style) with my friend Geoffrey. We were out until 3:30 (but that was also because there was a huge accident on the 405) I never saw Moulin Rouge in theatres so this was extra cool for me, and the next time I go I am going to dress up for the costume contest!

Saturday, January 7th:
Recall that I got home at 3:30 (asleep by 4.) I had to wake up at 9:30 for a MANDATORY theatre meeting (where I signed up for crew on one of the 3 plays being performed this semester) Waking up was so very difficult, my eyelids felt like led. The worst part was that almost immediately afterwards I had to drive about an hour to get to a lacrosse game, and then play a lacrosse game all on 5 hours of sleep (and I don’t do well on lack of sleep) But I did ok. Mattt went with me to the game. It’s great to have someone there cheering for you. Course Mattt is not as load for Lacrosse as he is for Track, but having him there made me feel really good (first game of the season.)
After the game we went back to my apartment and finished the video game “Legacy Of Time.” It’s a very cool game! For all of those people I have ever made fun of for playing video games (and there are a few) I am so very sorry! Cuz they are cool!

Sunday, January 8th:
I went grocery shopping and cleaned the apartment…well…kind of. I cleaned it enough to make it look decent and feel clean, but it could use a really good cleaning. Yeah that’s about all I did, very relaxing and comfortable. Oh yeah! I did my laundry too! I’m like a regular little housewife, all I need to do now I cook a big meal.

My Audition:

Didn't go as well as I had hoped.... I messed up a few times and...well...yeah. It's just as well though because I really can't be in the play even if I got a part (I supposed I could work it into my schedule...if I don't sleep) because I have lacrosse that takes up the weekends, and classes that take up the majority of my day (from 9-6 usually) and I found that I have to have an extra 60 hours of work in the set building room so that’s going to take up a lot of my free time. So it doesn’t matter if I messed up.

Stupid Act Of The Day

My theatre 142 class is healed in the "Black Box" theatre, and there is a window behind which the light board operators and sounds operators work behind (but this window is made to look like a mirror so you cannot see into the window) well, I was dancing around when we took our break. There was no music and no one in the class was looking at me because I was dancing behind them all...right next to the mirror/window...then I heard a tapping and the window moved a bit, and a few minutes later a group of kinds came back into the class laughing telling me "how great a dancer I was" and how very much they enjoyed it. Ha ha ha, I don't really mind, in fact...I think it is quite funny.

Stupid Activity of the Day

Not everyone has one stupid act every day, but I do! And today is particularly good because I have 3! (Rare even for me)

1. Walking back to my apartment after one of my classes I happened to be crossing a street and reading a sheet of paper at the same time. Because it was ME I was not crossing in the sidewalk, but in the middle of the block (but because it was on campus it did not really matter. As I came to the other side of the street I stepped up onto what I thought was the sidewalk but turned out to be my messenger bag, I tripped over my bad, and the sidewalk and then somehow managed to get my hair caught under the strap of my bad…now that is talent. I would have fallen flat on my face as well had it not been for Demmi. He was walking next to me talking about theatre (I honestly was not really listening) and caught me just before I hit the ground. (But of course Demmi has known me for at least a week and so was not surprised)
2. I was looking out the window with my friend Beth and as we turned to go to out class I didn’t even look where I was going and turned right into a pillar. Beth started laughing hysterically and I can see why. It was almost exactly like a move you see in a cartoon (thank goodness I didn’t break my nose)
3. I was running late for my theatre class so I thought I would take my skateboard along even though it was raining. I got there very quickly (but wet) It was the way back that caused problems. There were larger puddles because it had been raining for 3 hours, but…well…I thought I would skateboard home too…. well…as I came to a street the skateboard started skidding as I tried to stop and I landed head first in a HUGE puddle…. I got ever wetter, colder and muddy. But, yet again, I was fine. Funny how that works.

Three stupid things…but I am fine. How I do it I will never know. But as Ryan and I agreed, I am actually quite coordinated; I just don’t pay enough attention. It is not coordination I lack, but an attention span.

Today it rained in LA. and not just a drizzle, but a hard rain, and a long rain. I came ou of my theatre class at about 6 and it was pouring! and i had to walk the 4 blocks back to my appartment. I was drenched, and cold. By the last block my pants had begun to stick to my legs and they were very wet and uncomfertable.
For those of you who like in North cal. it woudl be nothing, but here, it is astonishing. i have never seen it rain like this in LA.

Today was the first day of class. All of my classes seem nice, i am taking Soc. Freshman Speech and Communications. An introdution to voice and movement, and an introduction to acting ( these are my monday wednesday and friday classes...well, the last two are only monday and wednesday ) and tomorrow i have astronomy, volleyball, and set design.

I am playing lacrosse! I wish i could be playing with a college team, but unfortunalty that is impossible, so...i am playing with Trickeck. it is a post collegic team made of of mostly 30 year olds. We had our first practice on satureday, and next satureday is our first game! i am very happy

I watched the super bowl! first time i have sat down and watched a full football game. I was a little dissapointed because i wanted the panthers to win ( becasue they have a far supperior mascot! the patriots, please! ) but they didn't. It was iteresting though, and very intense toward the end! it was so very close! i think both teams did very well, and tha the half time show was terrible. didn't like it at all. too many girls wearing too little, and nothing very interesting.

the end for today
